Of all the motorcycles Harley produced for the military, this is a very special bike. The frame for this Anchor Bike was only produced for one year. This bike helped create a dramatic rise in Harley’s popularity as surplus bikes were sold to civilians, many of whom were servicemen that had come back from the war and wanted a bike like the ones he rode or saw during wartime. This bike has the Anchor Stamp in the VIN. This specific bike was restored by world-renowned Harley expert David Sarafan, author of “The Liberators”.
This “U” models overall condition is fantastic / museum quality. It runs and drives as it did in the 40s! It utilizes 90% original HD parts and it shows extremely well. This bike still retains the factory 6-volt system, and it fires up easily. The military paint has no major blemishes to be found. The 1200cc Flat Head has been professionally rebuilt and runs excellent. A total of 1 test mile has been put on it. The motor and Trans are date code correct for the bike. The transmission has been freshly overhauled as well. The Rear fender was found in Africa and it took a total of 3 OE Harley fenders to complete!
The electrical wiring for the bike is brand new OE spec styled and shows excellent.
This is a museum quality Anchor Bike that you can drive to events with ease. It does not need anything to enjoy.
