Outstanding condition! Only 52,546 actual miles. We purchased from
the original owner. Florida/Tennessee car that was extremely well
taken care of. The condition is what sold me. I could tell
immediately from 10 feet away that this was a special SL. As I
inspected it, I was not disappointed. It includes several books,
manuals, a sheet how this car was ordered from Mercedes and even a
1st place trophy!
EXTERIOR: The body is mint, no rust, dents or damage. I inspected
the paint and it appears to be original, no overspray or tape
lines. Paint still shows really well, has a glossy bright finish.
All the trim, chrome, exterior bits and pieces are exceptionally
nice. The stainless and rubber on the bumpers are mint. The
taillights, door handles, glass, stainless trim, door jambs are all
mint. Wheels are mint, has Michelin tires. Removable hardtop is
pristine. Convertible top is original and in excellent condition.
It's a rich dark blue German cloth.
INTERIOR: Also impressive. Has actual leather upholstery. Steering
wheel not worn, seats, carpet, door panels etc are mint. Still has
original stereo. Heck the cigarette lighter and ashtray have never
been used! Trunk compartment is like new, even under the blue
carpet is the original alloy wheel spare tire and jack that has
never been on the ground.
MECHANICS: It's in excellent shape. It feels really good going down
the road. Air conditioning is ice cold, oil pressure is strong even
after it's warmed up. Under the hood is the dual overhead cam, fuel
injected V-8 motor. Even the motor compartment is exceptionally
clean, with a little detailing I would call it show quality.
Underneath the car is excellent and proper. Exhaust is
replaced.
The early SL convertibles are soaring in value. This classic will
be the next era SL in line to do the same. It's a great car because
of it's versatility. Has sportscar characteristics along with
luxury. The hardtop transforms the car to a coupe. It is very
substantial and fits so well you would never know you were in a
convertible. For the summer months enjoy it as a roadster. Unlike a
vette and a lot of roadsters, it has a trunk too.
