1979 Camaro Z/28 Bright Blue Metallic (code 24) in color same as the Pontiac Trans AM Atlantis Blue (code 24) for that year. Very nice color and the car is all original and still shows nice for its age with some patina here and there. It has its born with 350 cubic inch engine and 350 turbo-hydramatic transmission which both perform as they should.
I have owned the car for 22 years. I have recently been in touch with the original owner again. I still have her original paperwork with the car as well as the build sheet and other documentation. I can tell you anything you want to know about the car. There’s so much to say. It’s been a family member of ours and we still love it. The car is not perfect but it is very nice. It is for the most part all original. Over the years I think my wife, children and I have left a mark on the car.
I have changed tires, belts, fluids, brakes, and exhaust over the years for maintenance. I have a list of everything I have done and I have kept just about all items taken off including the tires. The tires were changed in 2011 and have about 1000 miles on them. We don’t get out much with it anymore. The originals tires are on a shelf in the basement.
The most important parts that were taken off have been kept just in case the car was to be restored later. I did not keep the exhaust, rear springs, coolant hoses or belts. The interior is not perfect but still very nice and the dash is perfect. The only issues I have is that many years ago the driver’s seat had a little snag in the vinyl on the outside bolster from the original owner. When we bought it, I used a vinyl repair kit and had to mix the colors to try and match. I did not do too bad of a job but you can see the spots when your close. The other issue was the two inner panels in the rear are sun faded. But no cracks anywhere.
The car is beautiful. All original spare tire jack and equipment never used. Years ago, at a local show someone stole the original radio and front license plate bracket out of the truck so I do not have them. I have won a couple trophies and when we took the Camaro to Superfest it won 2nd place in the original un-restored class. I did get marked down for the older factory exhaust so I bought everything new to look stock. The radio was the other thing. Not factory but period correct. That’s still in the car as they judged it. I never did anything with that because the original owner bought that and the louvers at the same time and it looks cool.
The car was undercoated at (Tuff Kote Dinal) by the original owner as well. The paint has blemishes but still looks very nice. There are chips, dings, missing paint spots and NO rust. Just 39 years of life lived along the way. I will give closeups to all areas upon request of areas that bother me. The underside of the car is clean, under the hood is clean and original except what was mentioned above.
The car is beautiful and would make an awesome candidate for restoration if you chose to do so or just drive it. Thank you for looking.
