1948 saw the finalization of Packard’s post-war styling. This new look was highlighted by a smooth headlight to tail light treatment on the side panels with only the beltline ridge appearing to separate what could be considered the fender line. This “free-flow” styling as Packard called it, gave the new cars a striking, modern appearance. The front bumper was integrated into the grille and the well-appointed interiors featured large, comfortable seats while offering generous amounts of hood and leg room. It is no wonder why Packard’s of this generation were loved by the public. The New York Fashion Academy awarded Packard their “Fashion Car of the Year” award for 1948. The Deluxe line continued to draw the attention of those needing more than just standard accommodations. Packard’s 1948 Deluxe line offered a “perfect blending of Packard safety, comfort, ease of entrance, interior roominess, all-around vision, performance and economy.” With several body styles available including the sporty Club Sedan, the 1948 Packard Deluxe line is revered in the hearts of collectors and enthusiasts throughout the world today.
