!!2.3L Ford Pinto Motor. Championship Winner. Orig Owner Dallas
Gorman. 72" wheelbase. Cragar Gear Box. Spark and Fan Switches.
Casale Rear End. Gauges Water Temp Fuel Oil. This car was purchased
from the The Frank Kurtis Company (Kurtis Kraft) in 1946 by Dallas
Gorman of St. Louis MO. It was registered in the St. Louis Area
Racing Association for 28 years. This car won the Championship for
Dallas Gorman in 1959 racking up 10 wins that season and in 1960
with 8 wins with the famous Arnie Knepper at the wheel. Other
championship seasons were in 1963 driven by Gene Weyant 1964 & 1965
driven by Danny Frye Sr.and in 1970 with Burt Wilson. All this was
done with an Offy Engine. At this time the car wore the #5. It ran
from 1971 to 1973 at various tracks throughout the Midwest; Some of
them being the Indiana Raceway Park St. Charles SpeedwayWinchester
Indiana. The car was purchased by Barney Flynn of Illinois in 1974
and had a Chevy II installed helping it win the championship with
Danny Frye at the wheel. It bounced around the Vintage Circuit in
the Midwest and East for 4 more years. In 1993 the car was found in
an old storage shed in NH. It was purchased and completely restored
to the condition that you see now. It now runs with a Ford 2300
Pinto Engine. This car ran on a regular basis in the South and once
a year at the NHIS at the Annual Vintage Meet. It is registered
with the Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association (DAARA) Atlantic
Coast Old Timers (ACOT) And The Williams Grove Old Timers (WGOT).
The History of the time it was a number 4 and number 5 can be found
in the Kurtis Kraft Story Book written by Ed Hitze and a Genealogy
of Speed Book by Bill Montgomery. This is an amazing car with great
