1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder
Vehicle Identification Number: 40627W188322
To play on GM’s popular Corvette and BelAir line of cars, the
Corvair was developed as a new line of mid-size cars. GM did
not want to merely shrink the size of a current car, but rather to
develop a whole new style. The Corvair featured the rear
mounted engine, no tail fins or chrome grill and was a major
deviation from the typical car produced by Detroit’s Big
Three.
The Corvair Monza presented at auction is coming off 40 years
of storage away from the elements. In 2017, the car
emerged, a complete and professional service on all mechanical
parts was performed and this Spyder came to life! The car
received the following:
– Fresh Paint
– New Carpet
– New Tires
– New Exhaust
– NOS replacement of all chrome body mouldings
Only 6480 Corvair Monza Spyders were produced in 1964, making the
car presented at auction rare and collectible.
