Vehicle Description
The name Eldorado as derived from the Spanish words "el dorado"
which translates to "the gilded one" or "the golden one" in
English. 1952 Cadillac built the first concept El Dorado to mark
the manufacturer's golden anniversary. Since insertion to
production in 1953, the Cadillac Eldorado sat at the top of the
heap of American luxury cars. They symbolized the best America had
to offer in automotive design, luxury and performance. They were
big and beautiful cars stimulating and sustaining a love affair
with luxury for 50 years. The Eldorado was substantially redesigned
for 1971, growing two inches in length, six in wheelbase and
featuring standard fender skirts. Door glass remained frameless,
and the hardtop rear quarter windows were deleted, replaced by a
fixed "opera window" in the widened "C" pillar.
