The 1972 Torino was redesigned and featured an even more
exaggerated "long hood, short deck", coke bottle styling. The most
noticeable change was the large eggcrate grille in an oval opening
in the Gran Torinos. The Torino had aggressively flared front
fenders, the rear fender line swept up towards the roof, and the
windshield had a 60-degree rake. The roofline and A-pillars were
thinner without sacrificing structural integrity.
Ford reduced the number of models from 14 to 9. The convertible was
discontinued. The Torino remained the entry-level model, but the
mid-level Torino 500 was renamed Gran Torino, and the Torino GT
became Gran Torino Sport. The Cobra model was discontinued as the
Torino line was focused more on luxury than performance.
Can you say survivor? Well that's what this very well cared for
1972 Ford Grand Torino is. Under the hood you'll find a 351ci
Cleveland engine that has everything on it as it came from the
factory, backed up to the 351 is a three-speed transmission. This
car is equipped with power steering, power disc brakes and air
conditioning. It is a very rare color code 4S Light Green, with
black cloth/vinyl interior. This color wasn't available until 1973,
but this was a late production date in July of 1972 which is how it
received the light green color. A lot of documentation comes with
the car to include the build sheet, warranty ID owner card,
warranty facts book, original owner's manual, consumer information
sheet, emissions system warranty and maintenance schedules, and the
original dealership brochure booklet. The car still has a lot of
the assembly line inspection stickers still on it. Check this car
out today and buy a true time capsule.
