1983 Suzuki Jimny SJ410
In 1970, the first generation of Suzuki branded 4-wheel drive
vehicles were introduced to the market and produced until
1981. This first generation of Suzuki was under 9ft long to
take advantage of certain tax privileges and other benefits in
Japan. The second generation of 4-wheel drive vehicles, the
SJ410, produced from 1981 through 1998, was branded the Jimny,
received a larger engine and was lengthened and widened for export
purposes. Suzuki began exporting the Jimny Brand to Hawaii in
1981 and the lower 48 United States in 1985 under the Samurai
nameplate.
The car presented at auction was exported to and sold in the
Hawaiian market to a high end Resort on the Island. It was
used to transport guests around the resort and the Island and
driven 1183 miles. The resort sold the car to it's second
owner in 1983 who had it transported to Montana, where it has
resided since. The second owner kept meticulous records of
fuel purchased and maintenance performed, then sold the car in 1991
with 63,061 miles. The third owner put approximately 10,000
miles on the car over the next 10 years, then in 2001 the
Suzuki was parked in a garage due to health issues of the owner. A
new, factory top was installed during this time.
The beautiful, well preserved car emerged from obscurity in
2017. It was professionally brought back to life and is now
ready for the next owner to enjoy! The top is in excellent
condition and the windows show clear. The front seats were
re-covered and the carpet is original to the car. The
interior of the car maintains the original stickers, applied at the
factory, on the doors and the dash. The dash and door covers
are in excellent, original condition. The body is straight
and the original paint shows very well. The painted
wheel-wells also show exceptionally well. The original decals
present very well, with slight cracking evident in the passenger
side decal.
This Jimny is equipped with the in-line 4 cylinder 1 Liter
engine. The car is equipped with a manual transmission and
has locking front hubs for 4 wheel drive operation. The car
runs and drives very well and is ready for the next owner to
enjoy.
