Vehicle Description
Launched in 1967, the Pontiac Firebird was developed by General
Motors to compete in the pony car segment against the likes of the
Ford Mustang. The car was an immediate hit with those looking for
edgy styling and performance. In 1969, Pontiac released a specialty
package for the Firebird, upgrading the handling, suspension and
horsepower of the base car. This package was known as the Trans Am.
With its feature in the 1977 Film Smokey and the Bandit, the Trans
Am became an American icon and its popularity soared. In 1987, an
option package for the Trans Am, the Gran Turismo Americano, or GTA
as it became known, was released with high-performance suspension,
16-inch gold diamond spoke alloy wheels, a mono-chromatic paint
scheme and special GTA badging. The GTA was designed to be known as
the ultimate Trans Am and was the most expensive Firebird
available.
This 1987 Trans Am GTA is a one-owner car with just over 4,000
miles showing on the odometer. With the L98 5.7L V8 engine tied to
an automatic transmission, the car fires up and drives like the day
it came off the production line. The fantastic exterior ties into
the pristine interior. This one-owner clean Carfax Trans Am GTA,
without a doubt, represents an opportunity to acquire a Firebird
unlike any other available today.
Unless stated otherwise, vehicle mileage on title is exempt and
unknown if original.
