1967 Kaiser Jeep M715 1 -ton 4x4 Pickup that was delivered to US
Military in January 1968 and transferred to Texas Forest Service in
Lufkin, Texas. Also known as a five quarter-ton, it was based on
Jeep's Gladiator pickup truck. The M715 Family saw duty in Vietnam
and on European bases. This particular example was delivered to the
United States Military in January 1968. Later, at some unknown
date, it was transferred to the Texas Forest Service, where it
served in the Lufkin vicinity. There, it was set up with
firefighting equipment. In 2001, the firefighting equipment was
removed and the truck was sold to the city of Del Rio, Texas. The
city sold the truck in 2014. Finished in World War II-era Olive
Drab in great condition. There are no blemishes on the cab or in
the bed and previous holes in the bed where equipment had
previously mounted were covered and welded. The glass, including
the sliding side windows on the cab, are clear and intact. The
truck's lights are in similar shape. The truck's bodywork is
straight and solid, its black bumpers are in good order, the engine
bay is very tidy, the battery appears new and the truck's bed,
which has two coats of paint, is in good shape. This truck rolls on
Power King light truck tires, size 9.00-16 at all four corners and
each rubber wraps around split rim wheels. Under the hood, the
truck's original 231 CID Tornado inline six-cylinder engine has
been replaced by a 350 CID small block Chevy (SBC) V-8 engine with
a four-barrel carburetor. The SBC has been overhauled with the
following new or rebuilt parts; rebuilt crankshaft; new bearings;
bored .060 over; new rings; new Summit 1102 camshaft and filters;
valve job; new head bolts; new timing gears and manifold; new 65K
high-energy ignition distributor; new Accel 8.8 300+ spark plug
wires; spark plugs; new ram horn exhaust manifolds; new fuel pump;
remanufactured carburetor; larger size aluminum oil pan; and new
engine mounts. The truck also has a 12-volt electrical system and
vacuum-operator windshield wipers but the horn is inoperable.
Backing that motor is a Warner T98 four-speed manual transmission
complete with granny gear, a New Process 200 transfer case and a
5.87:1 rear end. Inside, the cab is standard military issue with a
few modern enhancements. The two original bucket seats with their
red vinyl, still look great. As with any pure military vehicle,
there's no carpet but the headliner is in satisfactory shape. The
original, two-spoke steering wheel, dashboard, inner door panels
and shifter are all in good order. However, the tachometer, fuel
and temperature gauges are inoperable. If buying a used Hummer
holds no appeal or if you want a rolling conversation piece or a
vehicle that will bring back military memories, visit MotoeXotica
Classic Cars and check this truck out today! This truck is
currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current
mileage on the odometer shows what is believed to be 35.413
original miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear,
