A stereotypical example of 1960s Detroit iron, in 1965 Plymouth re-launched the Fury as a full size model using the Plymouth “C” body frame. Measuring up at an impressive overall length of 17 feet 4 inches with a wheelbase of 16 feet 7 inches this full-size V8 muscle-car screams American Classic.
Available in 3 trim levels the Fury 3 featured full-length aluminium body side moulding, dual tail lights with back-up lights and like all Chryslers of the period featured torsion bar suspension. The Fury convertible was considered so good looking that it was chosen as the pace car for the 1965 Indy 500.
This Plymouth Fury has the 318ci V8 (5200cc) mated to the optional 3 speed column select automatic. The hood is electric and drops and lifts on demand. This Fury convertible is not perfect and will require some attention mainly of a cosmetic nature particularly to the trim. However she starts on the button, burbles pleasantly down the road and has all the makings of a useable classic car with huge presence and that marvellous feel good feeling.
