Vehicle Description
This 1948 GMC is the kind of custom truck we know a lot of you have
been waiting for. After all, the custom flatbed body, comfy A/C
interior, and bright V8 have the kind of total presentation that
means this hauler doesn't have to bring anything else to the show
to win an award.
This is one slick custom, and you know that the moment it comes
into view. The lowered stance and a few inches chopped out of the
cab give this flatbed the attitude of a street machine. The light
tan paint has a smooth shine that's highlighted further by the
custom smoothed cab. No ornamentation like badges or door handles -
just some cool custom pin striping up front that has its own take
on the classic GMC badge. Plus, this slick attitude is furthered by
a satin silver finish seen on the bumper, grille, headlight
surrounds, side mirrors, and fuel tanks mounted under the bed. And
speaking of that flatbed, it does a terrific job of mixing
old-school elements (like the wood side rails) with cool modern
upgrades (like the clear LED taillights.) So you can go ahead and
haul a motorcycle back there, but really this one is already
stunning without any additions.
Pop the door openers to reveal more nice investment to combing
vintage and new. You get a nice hot rod vibe from the tuck and roll
style bench seat, tall gearshift with skull shifter knob, and
custom pin striping on the dash. Chrome bars of the steering wheel
stand out nicely in the darkness. Beyond that is an upgraded full
gauge panel. Plus, on this custom dark interior doesn't mean it's
stark. You have great features like power windows and cold air
conditioning.
The engine bay continues this truck's custom slick attitude with a
smooth firewall and inner fender walls. Plus, the details are nice
with the air topper painted in a matching tan. It makes all the
polished pieces like the valve covers and upgraded pulleys really
stand out. The same goes for the intake, alternator, compressor,
heads, and block all finished in the bold Chevy Orange. More than
just look good, this 350 cubic-inch V8 is a big power upgrade from
the inline-sixes GMC offered at the time. This custom build even
includes a Weber four-barrel carburetor and electronic ignition.
Out on the road, the power steering, independent front suspension,
front disc brakes, and three-speed automatic transmission mean that
if you decide to haul anything in this flatbed, the trip will be an
easy one.
Cool complete custom builds like this are rarely this affordable.
