After WWII, Willys-Overland was looking to expand their line up
beyond the venerable Jeep and grow sales with customers who might
otherwise be shopping Ford or Chevrolet. They wanted something more
comfortable and every day user friendly than the current work horse
Jeep. What they designed might be the first "crossover" in
production history. Borrowing suspension and drive train from the
Willys Wagon, and combining it with an open body style that
featured many standard features that were just options on
competitors models, and the Jeepster was born. Introduced for the
1948 model year, the Jeepster was not the commercial success the
company was hoping for. Powered by the war proven "Go Devil" inline
4 cylinder mated to a three speed manual transmission, the Jeepster
is reliable and economical. The exterior features wide whitewall
tires with chrome trim rings, wind wings to smooth airflow,
removable vinyl top and side curtains, and chrome bumpers. This
Jeepster features a very eye catching yellow and black color
combination, and shows very well for its age. Inside there are
black vinyl benches front and rear, full instrumentation, sun
visors, and deluxe steering wheel. Discontinued after only a three
year run, the Jeepster is a very rare piece of Jeep history. You
definitely won't see another one like this around. If you want to
