This car is in very good condition throughout. Paint and final restoration/assembly have just been completed. The restoration was begun by the previous owner approximately 10 years ago. The car was imported from the USA into Canada. The car has been well restored to original condition with no modifications. It is one of the 14,173 220 SE coupes produced from 1961 to 1965.
The car has solid frame rails and floor pans, all body panels are in good condition and very straight. It has a manual sliding steel sunroof. The chrome is the original, complete and in very good condition. The exterior trim and glass are original, in very good condition and complete. The car is equipped with European headlights. The seats are in the original beige MB Tex. The door panels are restored originals and the carpet is new. The dash, instruments and gauges, as well as the steering wheel are original and in very good condition. The radio is a Becker AM/FM in working order. The wood fascia is in very good condition.
The engine is the original 1961 Mercedes-Benz 2.2L 6 cylinder 134HP in very good condition and running order. It is very clean underhood and had new fuel and injector pumps installed. The transmission is the original 4 speed manual in very good condition and working order. A new clutch slave cylinder was installed. There are no problems with the drivetrain and front end. New tie rod ends were installed. A new stainless exhaust system was installed and the brakes were overhauled. The wheels are the original with 4 new wide whitewall tires, BF Goodrich Silvertown P185/80R13 installed.
Overall it is a solid car and a head turner.
