Vehicle Description
Up for sale in the Orlando showroom is this 1996 Mazda Miata. The
Mazda Miata was Japan's spiritual revival of the classic British
Sportscar segment made so popular by MG, Triumph and Austin-Healey
among others. Typically powered by a small 4 cylinder paired with a
short geared manual transmission, the Miata has a reputation for
being playful and dynamic, though not exactly fast or powerful.
This has left much to be desired for the more bombastic driver. To
solve this dilemma a grass roots community assembled and created
what has come to be known as the Monster Miata! In various forms of
driveline and suspension setup, a Monster Miata is a Miata with V8
engine. This example is fitted with a Ford 302 and boy is it a
Monster! With a 4 barrel, 650 Edelbrock carb this baby sucks in air
like a champ and huffs and puffs it out with a thunderous snarl
from its specialty fit headers and Flowmaster exhaust. This old
school brute power is handled by a Tremec T-5 transmission and a
Ford 7.8 rear end with 3.71 gears. The interior is set up just as
serious as the rest of the car with tan vinyl racing buckets, roll
bar and 4 point racing harness. The exterior is finished in white
with a simple wide single painted blue stripe down the center.
Subtle visual clues that this is no ordinary Miata are the raised
hood and 225 width rear tires. This Monster Miata is a true driver
with its turn key drivetrain and complete interior. It will be the
pride of any enthusiast with a keen interest in being different. To
