Vehicle Description

This 1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible has the most favored color combination of Raven Black over Black/White two-tone interior! Options with both porthole hardtop & auxiliary soft top, power steering, power brakes, wheel covers, and more! Excellent history with this one covering all ownership and service records from new! Released in 1955, the Thunderbird had created a new vehicle niche: the personal luxury sports car. Equipped with V8 engines, lots of standard features, plush interiors and comfortable suspensions, the Thunderbird was in a class all its own! For many, it was the quintessential road trip car for two. The final year of the "Baby Bird" came about in 1957, and with it the most refined attributes. Styling of late-1950's examples had reached a peak sporting larger quarter panel fins, art deco design, lots of chrome, and now with porthole hardtops for better visibility! Sales rose to a three year high of 21,380 making them the most popular by production numbers. For this reason, they still remain highly collectible as the last 2-seater luxury sports car produced by Ford until the modern retro version produced nearly 45 years later! We are very excited to offer this 1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible! The car is finished in factory correct AA- Raven Black over XA - Black & White interior upholstery! Under the hood is the original D-Code 312ci 4bbl V8 engine and Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission, sending 245hp to the ground with ease! Options include color matched porthole auxiliary hardtop & storable convertible soft top, Swift Sure power brakes, power steering, engine dress up kit, heater/defrost, Signal-Seeking pushbutton radio (converted internally to FM frequency), windshield washer, back-up lights, sunburst wheel covers, modern Coker Classic radial 2 3/8" whitewall tires measuring 205/75R14! This 1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible comes fully documented from new with nearly all records from brand new! Complete with original build sheet stamped with original gate release records dated October 30th, 1956. Selling new from George E. Mole & Company, an established Ford dealer based in Amityville, NY, to the original owner, Frank Ongania of Oakdale, NY, on November 8th, 1956. He would keep this car meticulously maintained by only Ford authorized service centers during his two decades of ownership! Having traded hands in the late 1970's, our records who indicate changing hands only a few times until today. Once in the hands of owner, Patrick Meehan, in late 1998, he took a sympathetic approach to carefully restoring the car on an as needed basis. This did include a complete repaint of the exterior by Classic Automotive Specialties of Copiague, NY, fresh weather stripping, new dash pad, convertible top, re-plated chrome bumpers by Resto-Trim in Lindenhurst, NY, engine gaskets & seals, rebuilt Holley carburetor, fluids & filters, new tires, rebuilt transmission (clutches, bands, seals, o-rings, steel sealing rings, and gaskets) by Lee Myles Transmissions in Patchogue, NY, new mufflers, rebuilt speedometer in 2002, rebuilt factory radio, etc. Today, only the original clock is non-functional. The original owner's manual remains with the car, and all service records from early 1962 through present will be provided to the next lucky owner. We invite anyone interested to call to visit further about this lovely example! It should continue to search as an outstanding investment for the next lucky owner.
