In its second year as Dodge's compact car, the Dart lineup expanded to include a GT trim complete with a new V-8 engine. This example was built in Chrysler's Newark, Delaware assembly plant on July 11, 1964. Among its options were an AM/FM radio with rear speaker and reverberation. Finished in red, (code PP3), the car's trim and paint are in overall show winning condition. The car's windows are clear and intact while its lights look great and are haze-free. The car's bodywork is straight and solid, its bumpers fit well to the body, the black power-folding vinyl top, which was installed in 2006. is in very good order, the engine bay is gorgeous and the battery appears new. It rolls on new Maxxis whitewall tires surrounded by 13-inch factory rims. Under the hood is a rarely seen 273 CID V-8 with two-barrel carburetor (code LA) engine, which was new-for-1964, and breathing through dual exhausts. It's buttoned to a Torqueflite 6 (code A904) pushbutton three-speed automatic transmission with a 2.93 rear end. Nineteen sixty-four marked the final year for Chrysler's pushbutton transmission controls. Driver convenience features include power steering. The car also has new exhaust and shock absorbers; however, the emergency brake is inoperative. Inside, the car has a new and correct (code P4R) premium red vinyl interior from Legendary Interiors. The front buckets and rear bench units are in excellent order while the red carpet is in very good order. The two-spoke steering wheel is in better-than-average condition while the padded instrument panel is in better-than-average condition and the inner door panels, which echo the rest of the theme's interior, are in very good shape. The emergency brake is inoperable. Completing the interior is a factory AM/FM radio with rear speaker. After the start of the 1964 model year, an all-new, compact, lightweight 273CIDLA V-8 with a two-barrel carburetor was introduced as the top engine option. 1964 was the last year for pushbutton control of the optionalTorquefliteautomatic transmission, so 1963 and 1964 models were the only compact Darts so equipped. New features included stronger door locks and a refined automatic choke.
