The Ultimate Gentleman's Grand Tourer Front Engine V12
At the time of its introduction, the 365 GT 2+2 represented
significant advances for Ferrari, particularly their 2+2 models.
The combination of independent suspension all around for the first
time on a 2+2 model and the new torque tube arrangement made the
cars quieter, more comfortable, and more capable than ever before.
The inclusion of additional convenience and luxury features further
enhanced the car's comfort, with standardized power steering and
air conditioning. The familiar front-mounted 4.4 liter V12 and
attractive Pininfarina styling ensured that the car retained all of
the traditional positive Ferrari traits, ensuring an authentic
vintage Ferrari experience and an excellent value compared to other
front-engined V12 Ferraris from the same period. In all, just 800
examples were built, making these cars quite rare as well.
12989 was delivered new to official Canadian Ferrari importer
George Woolley in Montreal, Canada as a LHD Canadian model in the
stunning and now highly desired color of Grigio Mahmoud over Nero
(black) leather upholstery. The Queen Mother was sold by Woolley in
1969 to its first owner and local Montreal resident. It later made
its way to Mississauga, Ontario, under the care of its second owner
(Mr. Welsford) - now wearing red paintwork. In January 2013, the
car was imported to sunny Venice Beach, CA and equally pleasant
Boca Raton, FL thereafter. 12989 is believed and recorded to have
had just four caretakers from new.
The car makes a strong impression with a straight and solid body in
good fitment. The current glass out trim off paintwork was applied
to high standards in years past, with a nice finish and good gloss,
while the exterior's trim appears original, with the brightwork
refreshed at time of repaint. Polished Borrani wire wheels
compliment with new 215/70VR15 Michelin XWX tires and tubes. The
cabin has been equally well kept and maintained as needed, with
lightly mellowed leather, carpeting and wood. All gauges,
electronics, interior lights and Becker Europa II radio work as
they should, with the exception of the clock.
The engine compartment is clean and well-detailed. Its appearance
is generally correct with proper finishes, decals and airbox
keepers. An uprated alternator has been fitted. The incredibly
lively and number-matching engine performs exceptionally well and
sounds amazing, thanks to a recent scheduled tune-up and its
meticulously crafted "ANSA" exhaust crafted by Timevalve
Manufacturing. The service also included all new fluids and
concours correct Baldwin red filters, battery, rebuild/recore of
the original radiator, spark plugs, wires and ignition consumables,
complete clutch kit and rear oil seal. Performance is dialed for
both sprints and distance touring, with ice cold air conditioning
for the upcoming months. Compression numbers are solid and
consistent to each side.
The neatly trimmed luggage compartment is fitted with a matching
spare Borrani wire wheel, as well as jack, lead hammer and
emergency accessories in bag. Additionally, an original Operating,
Maintenance and Service Handbook is accompanied by an original
Spare Parts Catalog and reproduction Becker Europa II Operations
Instructions booklet in leather folio.
A refined grand tourer for any occasion, 12989 offers an abundance
of classic Ferrari V12 rewards, without the significant investment
of similar Colombo engined counterparts. Now available for
immediate worldwide purchase from our Houston, Texas showroom - be
sure ask about collector financing and international shipping
options.
