Vehicle Description
Wow does this Hemi have a story! It has a Keith Black 426 that was
used by Candies & Hughes hall of fame race team. Recently rebuilt
and restored as a high performance street car. Has high end
upgraded everything- brakes, trans, and chassis etc. There is a lot
to read here, but this car has a lot to offer.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Built to be a street beast. I spoke to Tesar
Engineering, the engine builder and they were kind enough to send
me the dyno sheet. It is rated at 772 horsepower and 637 lbs of
torque! K Black and Candies Hughes is stamped on the motor, Tesar
explained it's interesting history. It is a Keith Black engine that
was raced by Candies and Hughes hall of fame race team back in the
day. Tesar Engineering was established 1966 building high
performance motors. They use cutting edge technology and have an
incomparable amount of experience. They set out to build this
engine to be bad ass and yet a street car. It's now 434 cubic
inches, has Aries pistons, Comp cam, APR bolts, Littlefield 8:71
blower, dual custom built Holley carbs and custom built
headers.
Has custom fuel system with braided hoses all the way to the tank,
a regulator, custom pump and filter too. Custom fuel cell is
relocated to trunk. Has MSD ignition with boost retard. Has
aluminum radiator, shroud, water pump and overflow. Electric pusher
fan and motor mounted fan keep it cool. Has oversized custom made
aluminum oil pan and external oil cooler.
Of course the motor is the centerpiece that everyone wants to see.
So it is fully dressed in polished parts. The engine bay is painted
white, firewall is smooth and there are tubular support bars to
prevent body twist.
UNDERSIDE: Upfront is totally upgraded with tubular suspension,
chromoly tubular K member, coil over shocks and a fat sway bar. Has
power rack & pinion steering system. In back there are CalTrac
tubular control arms, new split single leaf springs and adjustable
gas shocks. Has a custom built Spicer 8 3/4 rear end with Richmond
3.91 posi gears. It is tied together with tubular frame
connectors.
Has performance built 727 TorqueFlite trans by Trans Specialties
with TCI converter, manual valve body and deep aluminium pan.
It has a fat Flowmaster exhaust all the way out the back with
crossover pipe. All 4 corners have Wilwood disc brakes with drilled
and slotted rotors.
It is rock solid underneath. Floors, rockers, lower 1/4s are super
clean metal.
EXTERIOR: Super clean, dry body. Even the factory spot welds are
visible on the 1/4 panel lip. Completely repainted a smooth glossy
finish. The chrome and trim was restored by Calco plating. New
windshield. Fiberglass hood with pins was neatly cut out for the
blower.
New Cragar wheels at all 4 corners. 7x15 in front, 10x15 neatly
tucked in the rear wheel wells. Has Mickey Thompson tires.
INTERIOR: Is completely redone. Legendary upholstery, new cushions,
door panels, headliner, visors, carpet, embroidered mats etc.
Professionally installed rear roll provides multiple improvements-
safety, adds rigidity for better handling and it looks cool! Does
still have full back seat. Original console houses the billet Hurst
shifter and monster tachometer. Neatly installed in the dash are
Pro Comp gauges. Has nice leather wrapped steering wheel too.
Battery is relocated to the trunk with billet hold down. Has
battery cut off switch.
CONCLUSION: Starting with an extra clean rust free car, one heck of
muscle car was built. There is well over $100,000 invested. The
motor alone is worth more than half of the sale price. Top notch
upgraded components throughout make it a great driver. The cool
factor is off the charts!
