Vehicle Description
Restorations just don't come any fresher! This 1940 Ford Sedan
Deluxe just hopped off the rotisserie and looks outstanding both
inside and out. Equipped with an upgraded modern suspension, it's
as well suited to handle the demands of modern driving as it is to
take on the competition on the show circuit.
Ford created its Deluxe line to cater to a growing demand for more
outwardly luxurious cars, and added some great styling touches in
their pursuit - the art-deco front grille, high set pair of rear
windows and dramatically curved rear roofline being obvious right
off. All that aesthetic panache is covered in black paint that's
been very recently applied with obvious great care and features a
strong clearcoat on top to produce a new-car shine. There's a lot
of impressive fresh chrome on display - the center panel of the
front grille, the teardrop shaped headlight casings whose custom
appearance belies their factory origin, and side trim that runs the
length of the car and seems to match the curvature of the roof life
as it ends in back. The thorough restoration has also left this
Ford with excellent glass on all four sides that's surrounded by
fresh rubber seals. It's just a great looking vintage sedan on all
accounts.
The red leather interior is a driving environment you'll definitely
appreciate being surrounded by. The brand new bench seating in
front and back has yet to bear the weight of any passengers on the
road, so they still have a showroom appearance. Top to bottom, back
to front and side to side, there's a lot of room inside this cabin,
making for a very comfortable experience out on the road - even
tall passengers can stretch out in back. There's also a lot of
attention to detail shown, and the matching door panels and
headliner provide a very finished look. The dark red dash area just
beyond the chrome tilt column features an inspired updating of its
original configuration and very well prepped steel that has a
liquidy gloss to it. Aftermarket Dolphin gauges look awesome in the
textured chrome of the instrument cluster, with their dark faces
and vintage-looking font, and the analog clock recessed into the
passenger side glove box is a great added detail. There's a pair of
in-dash vents on each side to bring the climate-controlled work of
the Vintage Air into the cabin to keep everyone comfortable. Raise
the generously-sized deck lid in back and you'll find a very
spacious storage area lined with fresh red carpeting.
Mechanically speaking, this Ford features an array of components
that make it very well positioned to handle everyday driving
conditions in excellent fashion. A 350 cubic inch V8 sits under the
tapered hood, activated by a keyless lever inside the cabin. It's
ready for action, firing right up, sounding great and looking right
at home in its vintage compartment carrying its chrome air cleaner
on top. It pairs with a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that's
also fresh, for a very road-ready drivetrain. A modern front
suspension, designed and built by Chassis Engineering, Inc. sits
below this stylish sedan, and it offers a level of design
unattainable in vintage form, with its power rack and pinion
steering, coilover front suspension and front disc brakes. This
pre-War classic sits on a set of 15" Moon Cap wheels with Ford
branded chrome centers, wearing Nexen tires in front and Cyclone
Radial GT tires in back.
This 1940 Ford Sedan Deluxe has the visual magnetism to turn heads
