For Sale: 1989 Buick Riviera in Kentwood, Michigan
First introduced in 1963, the Buick Riviera stunned the world with
its drop dead gorgeous styling, powerful engines and abundance of
luxury. Jaguar founder and designer Sir William Lyons said that the
designers had done "a very wonderful job," and Sergio Pininfarina
declared it "one of the most beautiful American cars ever built; it
has marked a very impressive return to simplicity of American car
design." Soldiering on for another eight generations, the Riviera
was the de facto flagship for the brand. The 7th generation model
featured GM's 3800 V6 and front wheel drive. It was noted for its
extremely advanced electronic instrumentation displayed on a
dash-mounted 9-inch CRT screen. Just 21,189 examples were sold in
1989.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this time capsule 1989
Riviera for your consideration. With just three owners and 71,587
original miles, this example is one of the nicest ones out there.
Finished in what appears to be Ruby Red Metallic, this car has a
very sharp look. The body is very straight and has great chrome,
wire wheel covers with whitewall tires, metal top, and a nice
pinstripe. The red velour interior is stunning and in amazing
condition. Nearly no wear or tear is present and the seats are free
of fading, rips, or stains. This car has tons of revolutionary
features such as the central touch screen that controls the radio,
dual zone climate control, trip computer, as well as showing
auxiliary gauges, fuel economy, and other important information.
The drivers gauges are also electronic and have tons of available
information and can even switch between metric and imperial
measurements. Other notable features included power seats, power
windows, power locks, one touch trunk and cool windshield wipers
that spray washer fluid directly from the blades. Other features
included automatic load leveling and a tilt steering wheel.
Fitted with the 3800 V6 and an automatic transmission, this Riviera
is a smooth cruiser and is supremely comfortable. You will be hard
pressed to find another example in such good condition. While not
as desirable as early Rivieras, you can't help but like this
example.
