Vehicle Description
With a ton of originality, and plenty of cool upgrades along the
way, this 1976 Ford F-100 Explorer is a truly unique total package
that's available right now for quite a nice price.
Everyone loves the bold look of this factory-correct Medium Copper.
We believe this to be the original application, and so the amount
of luster that's retained after more than four decades really
highlights the level of care the whole truck received. Of course,
averaging less than 780 miles annually also helps with this level
of preservation. The sheetmetal is exceptionally straight, and so,
the first impression this Ford is its truly worth the asking price
alone. But then you start to notice all the great details. Some of
them are nice optional features from the factory like the
period-correct swing-out mirrors, Explorer hood ornament, sliding
rear window, and the cool beige stripe package that gets this
attractive pickup even more attention. Plus, this one was upgraded
along the way to make it one of the best-looking retro customs
around. The windshield visor, top running lights, side steps w/grab
handles on the cab, fender flares, and black & chrome Grand Prix
wheels. But more than just look like a retro-style long-hauler,
this one still knows how to be a useful pickup. After all, under
the vinyl cover is the added utility of the long bed setup. Plus,
the trailer hitch on the rear means you can be the coolest pickup
to arrive with everything from a boat to a camper.
Inside the copper and beige theme continues in what is believed to
be a mostly original interior. In fact, the only pieces that we can
identify as replaced are fresher carpeting (always a welcomed
upgrade) and a CB radio. While that last one is more about
'70s-style fun, the working PA system that it's attached to will be
great for making an entrance where you take this truck today. But
what will really make you love the interior is all the original
time capsule like features. The tan bench seat, grippy steering
wheel, and clear gauge package all remind you that this is a
low-mileage and well-respected classic pickup.
The 302 cubic-inch V8 looks great under the hood with its big blue
block, bright air cleaner, and all those factory-style details. And
more than just look attractive, this one has an extra power boost
thanks to a Holley four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock Performer
intake. Plus, the glasspack-style dual exhaust gives this V8 a
sweet crackle. A truck this nice deserves to be taken out for
leisurely drives, and so it also was optioned correctly to be
comfortable on the road. With a three-speed automatic transmission,
twin I-beam front suspension, power steering, and front disc
brakes, this is a great anytime classic.
Complete with the original warranty card and owner's manual, it's
going to be a while before you find such an interesting mix of
survivor and period-correct upgrades. And by then you'll likely pay
at least twice as much. So don't miss your opportunity. Call
