Vehicle Description
This 1994 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GT convertible is a
strong-driving, drop top muscle car that combines an eye-catching
exterior color, potent powertrain and the promise of an
exhilarating open-air experience for its next lucky owner. It comes
with an array of documentation to help reinforce just how well it's
been cared for, including maintenance receipts, and a clean history
report to serve as proof that this GM icon has steered clear of any
notable collisions.
Pontiac had introduced its fourth generation of Firebirds, of which
this GT is a member, just a year earlier and elected to give their
world-famous nameplate a thorough makeover that included a more
aerodynamic shape, as well as a vast majority of new components
that were inspired by the Banshee IV concept car, unveiled some 5
years earlier. The result, as you can see here, was an
unquestionably agile looking, low slung performance machine with
timeless good looks. Its fiery red exterior is a great match for
this Trans Am's extroverted vibe and shows no visible dings, though
a professional buff and polish would bring it to the next level.
Despite its nearly 25 years of service, it remains in proper body
alignment, with nice even gaps between doors and fenders, and a
flush fitting hood and trunk. Its signature hidden headlights, a
defining feature on Firebirds of this era, are also in good order,
raising without complaint and sitting flush when not in use. Unlike
so many convertibles, this Firebird retains an impressive
appearance with its convertible top raised to provide protection
from the elements.
The gray cloth interior has done an admirable job of evading most
of the ravages of time and UV damage, which is no small feat for a
convertible. The high-backed bucket seats up front still retain
their original shape and are both comfortable and supportive, and
the bench in back shows relatively little wear. The center console
between the bucket bears a well-sorted array of switches and
controls and, along with the dash area, is unblemished and
straight. This is a well-appointed performance car and the comfort
features you're likely looking for are present and accounted for,
including power windows and seats, cruise control, a tilt column
and air conditioning that remains fully up to the task of keeping
you and your passengers comfortable. Everything's in order in the
trunk area in back, with gray carpeting lining its walls and floor.
Airbags on both the driver and passenger sides are a welcome safety
feature.
Pontiac saw to it that their top of the line Trans Am had the
performance capability to deliver on the unspoken promise offered
by its looks. A 5.7 liter V8, paired with a 4-speed automatic
overdrive transmission, sits underneath the sloping hood to provide
all the acceleration you'd expect from a car like this. This GT
strikes an interesting balance, in that it's got enough years on it
to have nostalgic value, yet modern enough to satisfy those seeking
a more up to date driving experience, as it's equipped with power
disc brakes on all four corners, as well as power steering that's
noticeably more precise than its muscle car counterparts of
previous generations. This open-air GM classic sits on a set of 16"
wheels that are outfitted with BF Goodrich radials.
