For Sale: 1968 Ford Thunderbird in Mesa, Arizona

Vehicle Description

Highly original, big block V8 power, interesting design, and all the right features - including A/C - that's why we know you love this well-preserved 1968 Ford Thunderbird Landau coupe. And the affordable price is just the cherry on top.

The fifth-generation T-bird is from the age when style ruled the road, and so it's one of the most radical designs around. It was clearly influenced by the jet fighter planes with the hidden headlight front end that looked like a jet turbine trying to inhale all the air ahead. And the rear tapered inward like airplane tail, and the single-piece taillight panel looks like a glowing red afterburner. But more than just aggressive, as a true luxury Thunderbird, it also has all the right luxury touches. There's plenty of brightwork with the chrome bumpers, bright window trim, and polished factory wheel covers. The sheetmetal has a finely creased line that defines the profile, and the Landau roof with vinyl cover is pure '60s class. And you wouldn't be able to recognize all of these unique features so well today if this has not been under good care for the last half-century. We even suspect the rare Diamond Green paint to be original.

The factory-correct Ivy Gold interior is a great complementing color to the light green exterior, and the combo perfectly represents the '60s. This was Ford's personal luxury coupe, and you know that instantly just by looking at the seats. The front buckets have a fantastically preserved presentation with button-top cloth inserts and embroidering on the seat backs. The rear has the same materials, and its wraparound appearance makes it look more like trendy couch than a car seat. And with the carpets, dash, and door panels all nicely preserved, too, this is a time capsule-like presentation. The driver is always king of a coupe like this, and that's why everything is at your fingertips, including a power adjustable seat, and power windows. The center console flows into the dash panel to create your own personal space where you have a five-piece gauge panel and wood trim that coordinates with the dual spoke steering wheel. If you look closely, you'll also notice some great upgrades like an AM/FM stereo with iPod hookup (original radio comes with the sale) and modern R134a air conditioning.

The V8 has been rebuilt to make this look like you're picking this one up from the Ford dealer on day one. The tidy presentation, factory decals, and bright Ford blue components are going to get people talking. And so you'll be glad to tell them that this is the original 429 cubic-inch V8. The code-N Thunder-Jet motor is truly a great powerplant from this era, and it really makes the most of its big block torquey nature thanks to a newer four-barrel carburetor (the original one also comes with the sale.) And if this sounds like a great cruiser, then you're going to love going through the full maintenance file that shows receipts not only for the engine rebuild, but also plenty of suspension components and the three-speed automatic transmission. Add in power steering, front disc brakes, and modern Hankook tires, and you have a well-preserved classic that's easy to drive in modern times.

Complete with owner's manual and dealer literature, this is the perfect mix of survivor with the right investments in upgrades. So at a price like this, you know this T-bird is a deal that will be going fast. Call today!!!
