Vehicle Description
The International Company is no stranger to building things that
will last and can take the abuse of hard work and stressing the
importance of reliability and performance. The idea of giving the
American worker a vehicle that rivaled their farm equipment was a
stellar decision from the executives at IHC. Developed and improved
upon from the Scout 80's all the way up to the Scout II and
Travelall's. The Traveler was extended by 18" in the region between
the door and the front of the rear wheel-well.
This 1979 Scout II Traveler comes from the great state of
California. The previous owner had owned it for 14 years, 13 of
which were all in storage. It is powered by its 345 v8 paired to a
T407 3 speed automatic transmission with a TC145 2 speed transfer
case. The Scout features "Lock-O-Matic" hubs. The engine runs quiet
and smooth and the transmission shifts as it should. The body is
straight as a pin and shows very well. The deluxe interior shows
well and covered in blue plaid. The Scout rides on 15 inch chrome
rally wheels with 3x10.5 all-terrain tires that are in excellent
condition. Other options include remove-able fiberglass "traveler"
top with new hatch supports, 3.45 opt. axle ratios (front and
rear), trailer towing package, 19 gallon fuel tank and fuel tank
skid plate, high back front bucket seats, full width folding rear
seat, power steering, power brakes, tilt steering wheel, AM radio,
cargo area mats, 61 amp alternator, and engine block heater. With
the rising appreciation in the vintage 4X4 market, this Scout is a
smart choice.
