Unrestored 4dr hardtop with original paint, 455 V8 engine (neither burns nor leaks oil), transmission, wheels and hubcaps etc. One non-smoking owner. 81200 original miles and all maintenance records. Runs well! All electric windows, door locks, seats, trunk release, etc work.
History: Dad was a GM executive. An employee perk was a new car every year, but he died in 1972.. Mom wouldn't part with the car even though she never drove. A friend drove her and the car intermittently. For the past 10 years I drove it about 4K/yr. Now that Mom has passed and I have a newer car, I drive it at least monthly to keep everything moving.
Garage kept, though the car is too long to close the garage door, hence trunk area is more weathered.
Good drive train. Runs and accelerates great. Straight lines - no wrecks.
Neither burns nor leaks oil. Oil was changed every 2000 miles. We used "top tier" Amoco regular gas per owner's manual.
Original factory options included:
6-way electric seats (working)
power windows, door and trunk locks (working)
air conditioning (needs refit for modern coolant)
cruise control (works)
map light (works)
AM/FM radio with antenna integrated into windshield (works intermittently)
chrome door guards
vinyl roof (has one small repair)
Original carpet and mats in great condition. No cracks in windshield, dash, or door vinyl.
Original sales invoice, operators manual, chassis and emission control service manuals are in the car.
In the past five years car has NEW:
Radiator
Water and fuel pumps
Rebuilt GM carburetor
Ever Start battery (warrantied until Jan, 2019). The car always starts in cold weather and after storage.
Hankook White Wall Optima tires new in 2013, now have 16K miles on them.
The car needs some TLC and restoration to make it look new again, eg.:
Updated coolant for AC system.
Radio works intermittently: we suspect a loose wire behind the dash. Clock never worked.
Front seat upholstery (I have the name of a company which sells reproduction 1972 Buick Electra 225 fabrics).
Some rust repair and body work needed. Right rocker panel needs body work. A chrome strip missing in the photo is in the car, with miscellaneous
parts salvaged from our other 1972 4dr Electra 225 (includes one matching hubcap and vintage car maintenance supplies).
Original 1971 invoice was for $6568. plus extra for AM/FM radio, rear speaker, seat covers & undercoating.
Asking price is less than estimated valuations from NADA and Haggerty ($3500.00) for this year & model in fair condition.
A little time and TLC will give you a beautiful, elegant car, guaranteed to be a head turner.
