Vehicle Description
We all know that special feeling you get from behind the wheel of a
classic car. You're transported to an entirely different, simpler
time and the experience makes you feel lighter . . happier. This
1956 Chevrolet Bel Air 4 Door Hardtop is overflowing with mid-'50s
Chevy magic and offers rear door convenience that'll have your
inner circle clamoring to join you on the road.
The Bel Air is one of the most sought-after nameplates among all
classic cars and it takes just one look at this '56 to see why.
It's just a flat out awesome looking car, with a style that still
resonates strongly today and so ably represents the optimism of its
time that it could rightfully take its place in a time capsule. A
red and white color scheme sits in place of this sedan's original
dark green/light green combo - and while you'll notice a couple
spots in the paint just above and below the rear license plate that
could be addressed, it's still a quantum leap forward in the style
department. The extensive array of chrome this classic has in tow,
including the dominant front grille and bumper, and the trim
separating the colors, is in fine condition and shows no dings or
pitting. A pair of factory-installed chrome fender birds take their
place on top of the front fenders, joining the signature hood
ornament sitting front and center to create a really cool look from
the front. Despite its more than 60 years of life, this Chevy still
sports an impressively straight look, as well as a hood, doors and
deck lid that open and shut smoothly.
The red and white vinyl interior sitting inside the doors is in
great shape. The bench seats in front and back still carry vibrant
colors, with no scratches or tears to be found on their surfaces.
Climb inside, look directly above you and you'll see a headliner
that still clings tightly and shows no stains. Look to the sides
and you'll see door panels sitting firmly in place and bearing
handles that all work just as intended. With their dual fan shapes
set against a backdrop of cabin-width trim, the dash areas featured
in Chevys of this era were conversation pieces unto themselves, and
you'd be hard pressed to find a better representative than this
one, with its clean chrome and set of clear gauges sitting in the
instrument cluster. The trunk area in back has been restored and
looks great, with a full size spare and jack sitting securely in
place within its spacious confines.
Where mechanical components are concerned, this Bel Air features an
impressively high level of authenticity that would be hard to match
in any vintage car not merely gathering dust inside a garage. A
period-correct 265 cubic inch Super Turbo Fire sits under the hood,
still in full possession of its faculties and starting right up and
running smooth. Sitting just behind it is an also factory-correct
Powerglide automatic transmission to bring its power to the
asphalt. The original drum brakes have been rebuilt and are capable
of providing the stopping power you'd want in modern day driving
conditions. A couple of thoughtful upgrades to more modern
components have been made for the sake of dependability. An
electric fuel pump has been added to feed the V8 with more
consistency - though its original gravity-feed counterpart sits in
its rightful place to maintain an authentic, period appropriate
look - and a modern battery joins the mix to remove the need for
finger-crossing while turning the ignition. This stylish and
generously proportioned automotive ode to the '50s sits on a set of
meticulously restored original Chevy wheels wrapped in Coker
Classic white walls that look unusually fresh.
With its unusually authentic configuration still in place and
4-door convenience at the ready, this 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air 4 Door
Hardtop is a cool rare find. Call today!
