While the full size Equus has been sold since 1999, the flagship
Hyundai sedan took until 2009 to be sold in the North American
market when the second generation model was introduced. Featuring

proportions, the Equus was a competitor to the established
Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus flagships. While not offering the brand
