Vehicle Description
History
The Cadillac Sixty Special is a name used by Cadillac to denote a
special model since the 1938 Harley Earl-Bill Mitchell-designed
extended wheelbase derivative of the Series 60, often referred to
as the Fleetwood Sixty Special.
The Sixty Special designation was reserved for some of Cadillac's
most luxurious vehicles. It was as offered as a four-door sedan and
briefly as a four door hardtop.
Why Is This Car Special
These 1940 Cadillac Series 60 cars like the one we have here at
Skyway Classics, took over the Series 70's place, which was dropped
for the 1938 model year, as Cadillac's most luxurious owner-driven
large model. Of special note is that 1940 was the last year that
side-mounted spare tires (optional on all Cadillacs, including
Sixty Special) were offered.
The Cad we have here is a restored version and has some special
history too. It is sold w/Original Invoice, is a Documented
Hawaiian Export When Sold New, and is thought to be a Former
General's Cadillac, which makes it a really rare car.
Mechanical Specs
This Flathead V-8 Engine appears to be just like it was back in
1940 with a clean engine compartment to match. Everything looks
period correct and the engine is mated to a 3-Speed Manual
Transmission.
Interior
The light tan interior appears to be as original also with its
bench seat in the front and ear seat with a fold out center console
too. It retains all Factory Gauges and all the trim and door panels
are great.
Exterior
The green and white paint that covers the exterior is sharp and
really stands out among any other cars. It has the rare Dual Side
Mount Spare Tires as mentioned earlier and rides on wide whitewalls
with factory hubcaps.
