vehicle in 1974 and the third-longest single generation car made
(29 years in U.S. automotive history, MotoeXotica Classic Cars is
pleased to present this overall original 1985 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
This example was made at American Motors' Toledo, Ohio assembly
plant.Rugged toughness and power are the defining characteristics
of the 1985 Jeep Wagoneer. This Grand Wagoneer's paint and trim are
in overall excellent order, however there are some minor blemishes
upon close inspection. The faux woodgrain appliqus on the doors
and fenders are in overall very good order. The Wagoneer's windows
are clear and intact but there are some minor chips visible in the
windshield. The truck's lights are in overall very good order;
however the driver's side fog light lens is cracked. This SUV's
bodywork is solid and straight, the shiny chrome bumpers fit well
to the body, the engine bay is tidy and the battery looks very
good. In the rear, the cargo area looks very good, This truck rolls
on BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A light truck tires, size 30X9.50R15 at
all four corners. Each tire surrounds a factory aluminum wheel with
a center cap. Under that hood is a 360 CID V-8 engine; the 360 was
the last AMC V-8 to be manufactured. It is buttoned to a General
Motors-supplied Turbo Hydramatic 400 three-speed automatic
transmission. Inside, the original Honey-colored interior is in
overall very good order. The leather bucket seats and rear bench
seat are swathed in Honey Leather and look fantastic. The matching
honey-hued carpet is in good condition in front, the original
carpet is presentable while the headliner is in very good
condition, as is the three-spoke steering wheel, complete with faux
wood-grain hub. The instrument panel is in good shape while the
inner door panels are in very good condition. Rounding out the
interior is a Sony AM/FM stereo with CD player. Compared with
offerings fromGM,Ford,International Harvester andLand Rover
which were producing utilitarian work-oriented vehicles with
spartan truck-like interiors the Wagoneer's luxury set it apart.
Together with theGladiator Truck, the revolutionary WagoneerSJ
platformsported an advancedoverhead camstraight-six engine and
offered features unheard of at the time in any other mainstream 4WD
vehicle, such asindependent front suspensionpower steering,
automatic transmission,a factory radio or air-conditioning. The
Wagoneer made its debut seven years before Land Rover launched
itsRange Rover in Great Britain and 24 years before that upscale
marque appeared in the US. For 1984, AMC replaced the SJ-body
Cherokee with the all-new, smaller and more
fuel-efficientunibodyJeep Cherokee (XJ) but high demand prompted
the company to keep the old SJ-body Wagoneers in production. The
Wagoneer line saw consolidation with the end of the 'Brougham'
model, while the 'Limited' was renamed the 'Grand Wagoneer' and, in
mid-1984, Jeep introduced a less expensive version called the
WagoneerCustom, without thesimulated wood-grain exterior. The
Custom had steel wheels with hubcaps, standard equipment was pared
down, and it had part-time four-wheel drive. Despite its lower
price, sales were poor and it was dropped after 1984. The Grand
Wagoneer remained "the gold standard of the SUV market" and from
1985 it would continue in one version using the old SJ-body until
the end of the Grand Wagoneer production under Chrysler. An
improved handling package was introduced in 1985 that incorporated
a revised front sway bar, gas filled shock absorbers, and lower
friction rear springs. Competition to this Jeep in 1985 included
Chevrolet's K5 Blazer, Ford's Bronco, Dodge's Ramcharger, GMC's
Jimmy, Plymouth's Trailduster and Toyota's Land Cruiser. This car
is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri.
Current mileage on the odometer shows 72,253 miles. It is sold as
is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT
