This car came in as a down payment on a much more expensive classic car. While not something I would seek out, I was happy to get it because it was an Oldsmobile, it is a coupe and the mileage is low.
We know ownership history. It was sold new in Ohio. We have the warranty booklet. Then it was sold to a woman from Kentucky. Eventually she moved to Lansing, MI and that is where she lives today. For a while, the car was back to its roots of Lansing, MI.
The odometer just turned 80,000. The car is completely original, with only maintenance performed. The carpet and pedals tell me the mileage is actual. Echoing the owner’s claim.
The body is very original and shows some wear and tear. Mostly stone chips, small scratches and a few small dings. Unfortunately, the bumper fillers have seen their better days. Otherwise, it shined up nice and is certainly not an embarrassment to drive.
The interior is actually rather nice, with the dash, headliner and rear seat in great condition. The carpet is very nice, too. The arm rests and front seat are cracks and rather unsightly. If I were the driver of this car, I would throw a blanket or towel on the seat and have the arm rests recovered.
All features function properly. All lights are working. All gauges are functioning and the readings suggest a good engine. Driving the car also tells me the engine is strong and the transmission is working properly.
I see a new battery, recent tires and radiator. Otherwise, the car is very original. The engine bay is not a mess. The trunk looks good with factory upholstery. Even the trunk light works.
Options include power steering and brakes Cruise control, climate control, tilt column, power seat and trunk release, AM/FM stereo, convenience lighting and leather upholstery.
While the car is not perfect, it is very honest. I would say it is in its “working clothes”. It is a great car to drive and will be respected at any car show due to the low mileage and the coupe body.
