The 300 SL was produced from 1989-1993. And although it shares the
name with the much more famous 300 SL from the Gullwing era, this
chassis designation is the R129, not the W198. Designed in 1984 and
sold elsewhere in the world for longer and with different engine
configurations, the 300 SL was only produced from 1989 through
1993. The single overhead cam motors produced just about 200 HP and
were very smooth. All SL's were equipped with a Aluminum detachable
hardtops and were very pricey when new.
This particular SL comes from the warm South where it has never
seen inclement weather and is in excellent cosmetic shape as is the
engine and transmission. This car currently has a leak in one of
the Cylinders that lifts the Hard-top. Although the owner has
replaced several of them a couple years ago, another one has
decided to malfunction. The soft-top is in good condition and the
interior shows like new. It has excellent mileage for the year and
is obvious it has been taken care of. This is a two owner SL with a
clean carfax. It also comes with its original rear wind screen and
owners manuals.
