Vehicle Description
This 1933 Willys Coupe is a true automotive unicorn. Not only are
you very unlikely to encounter such a specimen in your travels,
even if you were to cross paths, it's almost inconceivable that it
would combine the sterling exterior finish and array of top tier
features you'll find here.
At first glance, your inclination is to think that this coupe's
striking visual presence is the result of extensive modification,
but it isn't. Put it side by side with a stock counterpart from
back in 1933 and you'll gain an appreciation for just how stylish
this car was from the start. From those flowing fenders that
transition to amply sized running boards before ascending into the
rear fenders, to the ornate front grille, these styling cues aren't
aftermarket afterthoughts, but rather were part of the mix when
this coupe debuted. The Cobalt blue metallic paint, almost electric
in its intensity, looks great and is in stellar condition, covering
a sturdy steel body that's straight and well-aligned. Take a lap
around and you'll find every bit of the chrome ornamentation also
represents itself well. Up front, the windshield raises and lowers
smoothly, surrounded by clean chrome trim and a fresh rubber seal,
while in back the LED taillights loom just above a shiny steel rear
bumper and the emerging exhaust tips to create a great visual
effect.
The gray leather interior waiting inside maintains the same high
standards shown on the exterior and still smells very new. From the
two-tone, exceedingly comfortable bench seat to the matching door
panels it's flanked by, as well as all the other elements you'll
find inside, evidence of outstanding craftsmanship is everywhere.
The dash area is another stellar attraction in a car with a
seemingly endless supply of them, with the spotless deep blue of
its steel surface perfectly complemented by a set of VDO gauges
framed with brass rings to keep tabs on motoring functions while on
the road. There's a custom steering wheel mounted on a brushed
aluminum tilting column to put it in exactly the right position and
as you reach out to grasp it, you'll come to the realization that
this Coupe is configured every bit for inspired driving as it is
for the benefit of admiring onlookers. Next to the controls for the
cold A/C and hidden in the glovebox is an AM/FM/CD stereo system on
hand to provide an audio backdrop for your adventures on the
asphalt.
An LS1 V8 sporting 5.7 liters of displacement sits as the
foundation of a high performing yet dependable drivetrain. It's in
fine running form, echoing out a deep, rumbling exhaust note
through its Flowmaster mufflers, and is paired with a 4 speed 700R4
transmission that offers a great combination of gearing for off the
line acceleration and overdrive for low-RPM revs at highway speeds.
The disc brakes you'll find at all four corners are certainly a
benefit in real world driving, offering dependable, fade resistant
stopping power in the form of the Wilwood components. Below, the
clean undercarriage provides more proof of this vintage street
machine's outstanding condition - it's an assembly of unmarred
flooring and straight suspension components that include coilovers
in front and back to provide a great ride and avoid the binding
around corners that often plagues less evolved components. This
very appealing classic coupe sits on a set of Budnik billet wheels
- 17" in front and 20" in back for a killer, aggressive stance -
outfitted with Nitto tires.
