Here is a beautiful, original, rare and well documented 1964
Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk in excellent condition inside and out.
This is very clean rust-free California car. This GT Hawk (#1,119)
is truly a rare find that will only appreciate in value. The GT
Hawk Registry website indicates approximately 200 GT Hawks
registered with only 10 in California. They only made a total of
1,767 GT Hawks for the 1964 model year and who knows how many are
still left in this kind of condition.
It's loaded with the following equipment:
289ci, 210hp Thunderbolt V8
Flight-O-Matic Transmission
Power Steering
Power Disc Brakes (Front)
Tachometer
Electric Clock (works perfect)
It has only been painted once (1994) in its original color of Astra
White. The original body is totally solid and is completely
rust-free underneath. All the chrome and stainless on the car is in
beautiful condition.
It has a beautiful red interior (the seats are original), in
excellent condition. The dash, steering wheel and gauge cluster
look excellent. The headliner and carpet were all replaced with
factory correct replacement parts. New door panels were re-skinned
with the original vinyl and wood grain and new correct carpet in
2015. Custom floor mats match the carpet. The original AM Radio
(professionally rebuilt to AM/FM/MP3 Stereo) that looks all
original from outside, New Speakers (dual in single pod) in rear,
two hidden under dash (professionally installed). The trunk is
clean and finished very nicely with a top of the line reproduction
liner. Also, recently: a rebuilt Carburetor, a New Fuel Pump
& Filter. NOS Taillight lenses installed in 2015.
Mechanically, this beauty runs and drives beautifully while turning
heads as it cruises effortlessly down the highway. The engine
compartment is all stock and nicely detailed. It has its original
289ci engine and automatic transmission (matching numbers) that
shifts smooth. The car is so untouched it still has its original
Owners’ manual, accessory guide, service booklet, and original
advertisements. Everything on this car is correct for the
model year, with NOS parts used as often as possible.
The value of this Hawk, in my eyes, is the originality and history.
Dating back to Nov. 4, 1963 (date first sold), I’ve been able to
identify every one of the previous 5 owners, including Ms. Pearl C.
Timby, who at the young age of 69, bought the car new from G.A.
Bear Studebaker in Palo Alto, California. The car has been well
cared for and garaged since at least, 1987. Speedometer reads
101,000 which I believe to be correct based on the paper work
(dating back to 1983) that I have. Typical of Studebaker there is a
slight oil leak.
The Hawk has done exceptionally well at car shows, especially at
Concours level or shows that appreciate originality, with several
first-place awards. The shows I’m most proud of are the prestigious
2015 San Marino Motor Classic where it took 1st Place in the
Studebaker Post WWII Division and its two 1st Place finishes at the
2014 & 2015 La Palma Studebaker Meets including the 2015 Best in
Class with scores in the 380’s (400-point system). Competing
against other Studebaker's is always the most challenging and
rewarding. This is a rare classic car that is only going up in
value as time goes on.
This beautiful Hawk has also appeared in movies, a music video, the inside cover of the Studebaker Drivers Club’s Turning Wheels and commercial print ads.
Priced to sell at $23,500.00 OBO.
