Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is excited to offer one of the
rarest muscle cars we've ever had in our inventory - a 1965
Chevrolet Impala SS 409 convertible for sale right now in our
Arizona showroom. This beautiful red Super Sport has a white top
and interior, so you just can't get a prettier car in this body
style. The 409 engine is a 400 HP version built in Ontario, and
it's fully documented by GM of Canada. How's this for rare? A mere
742 400 HP cars (both hardtops and convertibles) as opposed to
2,828 340 HP models were sold between the US and Canada. Of those
742 cars, only 25 were the high horsepower version built in
Ontario. This drop top Impala has a tinted windshield, front
retractable seat belts, padded dash, electric wipers, 409/400
engine, wide ratio manual 4 spd transmission, an AM radio (now has
a correct factory AM-FM in its place), and 8.25 X 14 tires. The
owner has had this beautiful Super Sport since 1991, and he's
completely disassembled the car and restored it as correctly as
possible. The engine block and accessories are correct for the year
and have been fully rebuilt 3,000 miles ago or so. however, the
transmission and rear axle are the ones this iconic Chevy were born
with. Besides the 1961 409 cars, the 1965 models are the rarest,
because by mid-year the 409 was replaced by the 396 CID big block.
These cars are the end of a legendary run of GM muscle car engines
that were only built for five model years and are arguably what
started the muscle car era at Chevrolet for the non-Corvette
models.Don't miss your chance to buy a car that rarely comes up for
sale and when they do, few are as nice as this example. This 1965
Chevy Impala SS 409 convertible is for sale right now in our
facility. For more information or to schedule an appointment to
