Vehicle Description
You wont find many 1980s El Caminos in such nice condition. Plus
this example is the unique Conquista edition which adds to its
appeal. Chevrolets first El Camino was rolled out in 1959 in
response to Fords 1957-58 Ranchero. Chevys first generation El
Camino lasted only two years, 1959 and 1960. The second generation
didnt appear until 1964 and the third, fourth and fifth generations
followed, with 1987 being the final year the El Camino was
produced. Fifth generation El Caminos had, for the first time, a
chassis that was not shared with another Chevrolet model, such as
the Malibu or Chevelle. Motive power in this example is provided by
Chevrolets reliable 3.8-liter (231 cubic inch) V6 with 110
horsepower while shifting is handled by GMs reliable
Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed automatic transmission. This very fine El
Camino has been extensively rebuilt and everything functions just
as it should. The two-tone paint (a Conquista feature) is in
wonderful condition and the original interior shows nicely. This
vehicle drives straight and solid and youll enjoy the attention
youll receive cruising in a rare ride. Only 24,010 examples were
produced in 1983 so you know there are not many still on the road.
And dont overlook the practical aspects of this classic. One, its
actually classified as a pickup truck and you can actually carry a
fairly heavy load of stuff. Two, since its classified as a truck,
vehicle registration fees are lower in some states. This is your
opportunity to own a modern, practical classic for a very
affordable price. We believe that a test drive will sell you on all
the virtues of this great Chevrolet El Camino Conquista.
