Vehicle Description

1950 GMC 100 Pick-up truck

The Story:

This vehicle was in a carriage house. My father was asked by the 80-year-old owner to clean out the carriage house. When he opened the door, there sat the truck, flat tires, and covered in dust and dirt. My father asked her if he could buy the truck but she said she could not part with it since it was her late husband’s. He had purchased the vehicle new in 1950 to use as a work truck. In 1951, he had a heart-attack and subsequently died. The truck was placed in the carriage house (garage) and had not been moved. Several years passed and my father had done many things to help the widow. As she got older and weaker, she called my Dad and asked him to come over. She asked him if he was still interested in the truck. Dad said yes and asked her what she wanted for the truck. She pulled out the title and said to him that he had been so kind to her, she wanted him to have it and then handed him the signed title. That was in 1985. My father did some work on it and got it running but that was about it. He had a vision to give it to his grandson on his sixteenth birthday. In 1993, my son was presented with the title and the truck. The truck then sat in my garage from 1995 until present. My father had lung cancer and was dying. I worked on the truck and got it drivable in October of 2003, and for his birthday, we drove the truck over to his house for his birthday party. Dad died in February of 2004. The truck again sat in my garage until 2014. The day before I had knee surgery, I took the truck to Peachtree Auto Body. Two years later, I picked up the truck. This was not because of Peachtree Auto body but because of the rehab on my knee and other more pressing issues. I can't tell you what a great job they did on the truck. It became a project for the guys at Peachtree Auto Body. You will see how beautiful the truck is. They repainted the truck several times just to make it right. The truck is perfect. No rust anywhere. The body is perfect. You would have to see it to believe how solid the truck really is. After being protected from the elements from 1951 to present, it is in perfect condition. You will not find a more solid body anywhere.

The real value of this vehicle is the story. It is sentimental and special to me and my family.

I have all documentation on the vehicle including the original title.
