This was the first year of the reintroduction of the Indian Chief.
A special plaque attached to the frame identifies this as #967 of
1,100 Chiefs produced. These bikes are known as the Gilroy Indians,
as they were produced in Gilroy, CA. Finished in red with white
details, the chrome is as beautiful as when it left the showroom
floor. This motorcycle features an S&S Super Stock V-twin 88ci
engine with an S&S Super E carburetor mated to a 5-speed manual
transmission. It features chrome 60-spoke wheels, two-into-one
chrome exhaust system with Indian logo, polished-billet 4-piston
calipers, chrome front-end assembly, and chrome inner and out
primary. This special Indian motorcycle is an excellent example of
a showroom-condition Chief. From the John Staluppi Cars of Dreams
Collection.
