Vehicle Description
1947 Dodge Panel Truck has history of being produced for World War
II. The war ended and the Dodge was never used by the military.
Dodge then decided to convert them back to 2 wheel drive and sell
them to the public. This Dodges last known job was plumbers truck.
It was found in a barn with a blown engine. I purchased it and
wanted to bring it back to its original glory. We found a 1948
Dodge 218 engine, rebuilt it and the 4 speed transmission. We did a
body on restoration, new brakes, NOS wheels, complete frame
painting. The body was in great shape but need some minor dent
removal. This body style had a roof opening (rumor is that the
opening was for a machine gunner to be lifted into the opening. The
intent was for the Dodge to be a escort vehicle). We decided to
fill in the opening with fiberboard and vinyl . If I do say so, it
looks great. It has original gauges in the dash, however the panel
has been changed to a 12 volt system. All wiring is brand new. We
wanted the Dodge to be known as a Dodge when it went down the
street, thus the decals on the side.( we have an extra set of
decals that will go to the new owner) The panel has been in one
local car show where it was voted to be in the top twenty cars
Trophy and it also was given the Mayors Trophy. -Vehicle is on
