Vehicle Description
Chevrolet styling grew more impressive across the board with each
year in the 1960s, and in 1968 it introduced one of the classic
designs of the muscle-car era in the redesigned Chevelle. The new
model featured more curvaceous surfaces, an edgier front-end
treatment with a peaked grille and quad headlights shrouded in
squarish bezels, and a fastback roof line. For many of the Chevelle
faithful, its a constant debate between the '67 and the '70 as to
which is the most desirable. However, it's hard not to look at this
gorgeous '68 and not appreciate the styling.
This '68 Chevelle was restored with the sole purpose of being
enjoyed on the road. The current owner was very clear that he
didn't want a trailer queen. He wanted a vehicle that he planned on
putting on the road. That's why he chose the 5.7L LS1 V8 power
plant under the hood with all the amenities that we've come to know
and love like power steering, power brakes and ice cold AC. The
reliability and power of the LS1 is great, but then he went with a
4L60E transmission to have that 4th gear for highway use. The
engine fires up easily and runs down the road with the best of
them.
Originally leaving the factory as a gold on gold Malibu, today the
Chevelle sits covered in a slick black paint job that shows
extremely well. If you look closely you'll see a few scratches here
and there from the time its been enjoyed. But overall, the paint
shows very well. Inside the interior is near flawless. The AC blows
cold, radio sounds amazing, and ultimately is such a fun car to
drive down the road.
