Vehicle Description
In 1997 McLaren introduced their F1 GTR 'Longtail', a car of
astonishing performance whose innovations pushed scientific
knowledge and technical regulations to the absolute limit. The
Longtail was itself an evolution from the Le Mans winning F1 GTR
and with only 10 racing cars and 3 road cars ever built it is among
the rarest of all road-legal cars ever built by McLaren.
Fast forward to 2016 and a long awaited heir to the Longtail was
finally introduced, the 675LT. Described by motoring journalists as
the pinnacle of McLaren's Super Series and the car that enthusiasts
had been waiting for, the 675LT was a significant improvement on
the previous 650S, with McLaren's engineers putting every aspect of
the car through their rigorous performance improvement process;
"the loop".
As a result the engine was substantially redesigned with over 50%
of parts in the twin turbo V8 being new or significantly revised
with many coming from the P1, all of which contributed to an
increased power output of 666bhp.
The suspension was once again largely redesigned with lighter and
stiffer springs and both uprights and wishbones also coming from
the P1.
The body featured a completely new rear end, which was all in
carbon fibre, a redesigned front end with larger splitter and a
modified underside, all of which reduced weight and improved
downforce by 40%.
In addition to the use of carbon fibre in the structure and the
outer panels, McLaren also sought to eliminate weight in every
other area so the exhausts were in Titanium, the windscreen was 1mm
thinner, the wheels 800g lighter, the seats made from carbon fibre
(again borrowed from the P1) and the interior covered in Alcantara
as opposed to leather (which saved an additional 3.5kg). Overall,
the 675LT was some 100kg lighter than the 650S with the new carbon
body parts saving 35kg alone.
The result of all McLaren's improvements was a car that was
lighter, more powerful, more focused and with outstanding
performance (acceleration to 60 mph being achieved in under 3
seconds and a top speed of 205 mph). With such characteristics and
a limited production run of both Coupe and Spider bodies, the 675LT
is incredibly exclusive and follows the F1 GTR Longtail's
uncompromising ethos to create a visceral driving experience of
unique intensity.

offered in near new condition having covered less than 1000 miles.
Delivered to Los Angeles it was sold to its first and only owner
former Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button and maintained
