Real factory Z-code 390 HiPo car with factory air conditioning. Original color of Rose Beige with Rose Beige interior. This car comes with just about every option including swing away steering wheel, air conditioning, power top, power steering and brakes. Most importantly, it is a real deal Z-Code 390 Special High Performance engine optioned car with its original engine.
The car is fully restored on the frame and has original rust-free floors and panels. The paint is beautiful, and the interior is equally as presentable. The car is original with one very high quality repaint.
The car comes from a very long-term Midwest collection where it was garaged in climate-controlled comfort. It is certainly nice enough for local and regional shows and could be a winner at a larger show without a huge investment.
All of the top components have been rebuilt using modern relays and electronics. Everything functions exactly as it should.
There were 5,900 convertibles produced in 1963. Less than 20% were equipped with the ‘Special’ engine option and only 10% of those came with air conditioning. It is believed only 180 HiPo Special 390 Thunderbird convertibles were built. A very small fraction of that number were ordered in Rose Beige. This car is likely one of only approximately 15 built and perhaps one of only a few survivors.
