A collector’s dream!

1937 proved to be a great year for the Chrysler marque. For the first time in nearly a decade the company produced more than 100,000 cars and the company returned to the top ten selling brands in the U.S. Much of the company’s success was due to the popular C16 line up. Also known as the Royal series, the C16 gained a complete redesign with attractive new lines. Most Royal models were based on the shortened 116” wheelbase, but elite 7-passenger models still were offered on the traditional 133” chassis. Power was derived from a new L-head 228ci straight six engine. This new power plant was good for 93hp and proudly wore the Chrysler Gold Seal of approval on top of the cylinder head. While a good selection of Royal styles were offered by the factory, customers still had the option to have a special order coach built body. Derham of Rosemont, Pennsylvania offered the stunning Royal Six Town Sedan. A true town car with a convertible chauffeur’s compartment and roll up divider window, the Town Sedan was as stylish as it was luxurious, being one of the chosen Royal offerings to feature the longer 133” wheelbase. While exact production numbers are not known, it is accepted that only a handful of the 524 Royal Six bare chassis received the Derham bodied Town Sedan. Certainly very few are in existence today and a complete running example would be a welcome addition to any premiere collection.

The 1937 Chrysler Royal Six Town Sedan by Derham featured here is finished in stunning Dark Green Metallic with a beautiful black leather in the front and biscuit in the rear. This magnificent Chrysler Royal Six Town Sedan was coach built by the Derham Company as a special ordered, custom model. It was just released from a prominent collection and is most likely the only example of this highly desirable model in existence. We are proud to offer this incredible American classic to the most astute collector or investor who understands and appreciates the rarity of this beautiful coach built Chrysler Royal.
