This 1969 Z409 Camaro is the legendary creation and collaboration that all started from noted automotive artist Steve Stanfords vision of a New Idea for an Old Chevy combining pieces of the best classic Chevys built into the best classic Camaro. A 1962 Chevy SS 409 was the idea for the engine, a 1961 Impala Bubbletop was the inspiration for the unique roofline, and the smaller sloping 1965 Corvair window was the perfect fit. A handcrafted 1967 Corvette hood tied the look all together and the only question was “can it be done?” Rob Glucksman then built a scale model of this svelte gal and the challenge was on. The 1969 Camaro 7 year transformation began with radical modifications of the original body, roof, windows, A pillars, C pillars, drip rails and peak lines, bumpers, and grill. Nothing was left untouched and every seam was welded to perfection. The 409 motor was bored and stroked to 472ci producing 498 HP with 466 ft lbs of torque. Ported and polished 1962 SS 409 heads. TH 400 automatic transmission with 2800 RPM stall converter, Inland Empire aluminum drive shaft, Strange Engineering aluminum positraction center section with 3.25 ratio, John’s Industries Ford 9 inch rear end with 31 spline axles, Wilwood 4 wheel power disc brakes, Adco double adjustable front and rear coil overs, custom sub frame connectors with drive shaft loop, and 2 inch mini tubs. Inside is just as sweet with a shortened 61 Chevy dash, lowered Camaro buckets front and rear, Dakota Digital instruments, Ron Francis wiring, Vintage AC and heat, Ididit column with 61 Chevy steering wheel, B&M shifter, and hidden superior sound system. Matching finished trunk with 1400 watt 5 channel amp, 12 inch subwoofer, and 12 disc CD changer.
