Vehicle Description
1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split Window For Sale - Awarded Bloomington
Gold Survivor LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1963
Chevrolet Corvette Split Window There is a growing interest in
the collector car world towards original, unrestored, original
paint cars. Although many still require the fully polished
base/clear paint with detailed components and undercarriage of a
frame off restored car, many of the purists are attracted to the
original, un-restored cars which are true examples of how the cars
were built, how well they were cared for since new and of course
the undeniable authenticity of an original car. They are the last
true representations of how that particular automobile was built on
the assembly line and not the interpretation of how the restorer
believes they were all constructed. Many of the larger
organizations such as the National Corvette Certification Board
offer special awards for cars which are true representations of
"Survivor" cars; which leads us to this very special 1963 Chevrolet
Corvette Split Window. Purchased new at Quality Chevrolet in
Wichita Kansas on April 22 of 1963, this Corvette was special from
Day 1. It arrived painted the perfect colour for a new for '63
Split Window, Riverside Red with black interior. Under the engine
hood was the desirable 340hp version of the 327 cubic inch engine
attached to a wide ratio Muncie 4 speed transmission. Per the
original warranty book, the car was delivered new to Mr. Wheat, he
would ultimately end up selling the car to a local executive who
seemed to buy the car simply because he liked the styling and the
way it drove. This would turn out to be a crucial point to the cars
future as it was never modified or abused. He would drive the car
sparingly until October of 1977 when he parked the car in storage
where it would remain in the dark for almost 30 years. In 2007, the
car would change hands to its third owner who pulled the car out
from its slumber of 30 years and back into the light of day. Under
all the dust remained the original factory applied Riverside Red
paint, original factory installed 327/340hp engine even original
oil change stickers still on the door edges. Quickly realizing how
special of a car this was a great effort was put into its
preservation and not restoration. Off to Bloomington it went where
it was awarded the highly coveted Bloomington Gold Survivor award.
Since then the car has seen some light use, putting a few more
miles on this stunning survivor. There is something truly unique
which can't be accurately described with words about driving an
original car which has not been taken apart, they feel solid and
well put together after all the parts have almost aged and blended
together perfectly. Today the car still presents remarkably well
and comes complete with judging sheets from Bloomington,
Bloomington certificates, original protection plan booklet with
delivery information, original owners manual, some service receipts
dating back to 1969 and even some photos of the car being removed
from its storage space. The 1963 Corvette Split Window has become
one of the most sought after and collectible Corvettes in history.
To have the opportunity to acquire a Bloomington Survivor winner in
Riverside Red with a 340hp 327 engine is quite possibly a once in a
lifetime chance for the discerning collector, an opportunity not to
be missed. Additional Details: 1963 CHEVROLET CORVETTE SPLIT WINDOW
