It's said that just over 5,000 examples of the 250 SL were
originally produced, with only about 1,750 imported to the US. The
250 retained the stiffer suspension and sportier feel of the early
SLs, but provided improved agility, engine and 4 wheel disc
brakes.
This particular car was sold new locally by Turnbull & Gamble
Mercedes-Benz to Dr. Daniel M. Tolmach of Oxnard, California on
November 20, 1967. The vehicle remained in Tolmach's care for at
least the succeeding quarter century, while always retaining
residency along the Southern California coast. The car displays
stunning correct livery, body panels, numbers-matching engine and
options as specified on its factory Mercedes-Benz DataCard. The
accompanying original service booklet records continuous dealer
services until 15,000 miles ago. Recent servings thereafter,
including its most current Fall 2017 tune-up and inspection by
renowned Mercedes-Benz SL specialists are chronicled in the car's
dossier of records. This unrestored and uniquely optioned example
is complete with its original metal warranty plate, manuals in
their proper pouch, tool roll, jack, and emergency accessories.
