Vehicle Description
History
The fifth-generation Ford Mustang is a pony car that was
manufactured by Ford from 2005 to 2014, at the Flat Rock Assembly
Plant in Flat Rock, Michigan. The fifth generation began with the
2005 model year and has been pleasantly received by the automotive
press and the public.
Why This Car Is Special
The best thing about the Mustang GT we have here at Skyway Classics
the ride and handling is far superior to the previous models. Not
even the most recent independent-rear-suspension SVT Cobra can
match the new GT's skid pad grip. Add to that the GT's engine and
the new look appeal and you have a great Mustang GT package. Oh,
and it is also a clean Carfax, to boot.
Mechanical Specs
The Mustang GT features an all-aluminum 4.6 L 3-valve SOHC Modular
V8 with variable camshaft timing and a more rugged Tremec TR-3650
transmission. The engine produces 300 hp @ 5750 rpm and 320 lbft
of torque @ 4500 rpm. The GT model is capable of performing a
quarter-mile test in 13.8 seconds @ 99 MPH, with acceleration from
zero to 60 MPH in 5.6 seconds.
The Mustang GT also came equipped with a limited slip differential
complete with the same carbon-fiber clutch discs used in the 2003
to 2004 SVT Cobra and the 2007 Shelby GT500. The differential uses
the 31-spline axles and the 8.8 in ring gear. The standard final
drive ratio of 2005 and 2006 Mustang GTs with a manual transmission
was 3.55:1.
This Mustang GT also features a stiffer, better handling version of
the standard suspension, larger 12.4-inch front brake discs,
standard four-channel ABS with traction control, a two-piece drive
shaft, a stainless steel dual exhaust, standard grille-mounted fog
lights, larger wheels with performance tires and a BBK custom air
cleaner intake package.
Interior
Standard equipment on this 2005 Mustang GT includes power windows,
dual power mirrors, power door locks with remote keyless entry,
front air bags, and AM/FM stereo with CD player.
The steering wheel, which is adjustable for rake, features three
chrome-faced spokes. The gauges include a large 8000-rpm tach and
140-mph speedo, and gauges for fuel, water temp, volts, and oil
level.
Exterior
This Mustang GT is completely redesigned inside and out, and it is
a head-turner. It's a combination of classic 1960s and modern-day
styling which make it unique, yet timeless. Our Blue GT has classic
lines with a nipped and tucked appearance.
Conclusion
The 2005 Blue Mustang GT we have here at Skyway Classics reminds us
that there is more to life than driving an SUV or minivan, and that
having power like the GT can be a lot of fun.
