about the Bullrun and Gumball 3000 rallies, have you ever wanted to
own a rally car that makes a bold, unique exclamation point? Now's
your chance! At MotoeXotica Classic Cars, we are very proud to
present the one and only 1975 Chevrolet Caprice Classic that is the
original Gas Monkey Rally Car, enhanced by Richard Rawlings and
Aaron Kaufman of Gas Monkey Garage in Dallas, Texas in the late
2000's to compete in the Bullrun and the Gumball. This was before
Richard's show Fast N' Loud became the most popular car show in the
world! Rawlings and his "Monkeys" star in Discovery Channel's "Fast
'n Loud" series. The particular Caprice is the same one Gas Monkey
Garage's Richard Rawlings and master builder Aaron Kaufman modified
and raced in the Gumball 3000 and Bullrun rallies in 2009 and in
2008, irrespectively. In one of the rallies, the car was clocked at
a top speed of 163 mph! If there is one car that best represents
the original start of Gas Monkey Garage into the mainstream, this
is it!!! Before the rallies, in 2007 Richard took out the original
350 CID V-8 and first time around installed a built big block
Cadillac500ci engine but sometime after 2007 they decided to go
even further and do something that no one else had done before and
installed a modern LQ96.0-liter V-8 from a 2006 Cadillac Escalade
engine with upgraded Corvette brakes and a GM 4L65-E transmission
replaced the stock three-gear Turbo Hydramatic unit. This car was
made in June 1975 right here at GM's St. Louis, Missouri factory.
Now its back in St. Louis direct from Gas Monkey Headquarters in
Dallas Texas. The stock Medium Green (code 44) original paint and
trim with black Gas Monkey rally graphics are in overall good
condition with the sorts of scrapes and scars you'd expect a rally
car to wear. The car's tinted windows are in overall very good
condition, with no major cracks or chips. The car's stock lights
and fog lights perched over the front bumper look good and are
haze-free. This Caprice rolls on Toyo A/T Open Country tires, size
31x10.50R15 at all four corners. As a rally car, there are no
wheels covers. The tires and wheels add to the odd yet menacing
vibe the car exudes. The Vortec HO 6000 or VortecMAX is a special
high-output version of theVortec 6000V-8 truckengine originally
designed forCadillac and breathing through dual exhausts. It
featured high-compression (10:1), flattop pistons for an extra
10horsepower and 10lbsft of torque, bringing output to
345horsepower and 380lbsft of torque and breathing through dual
exhausts. LQ9s were built only inRomulus, Michigan. Backing up this
engine is GM's 4L65-E four-speed electronic automatic transmission
and a nine-inch rear differential. Driver convenience features
include air-conditioning, tinted sunroof, power steering and power
four-wheel disc brakes. Inside, the front bench seat has been
swapped out for a pair of racing bucket seats, swathed in the same
Green (code 44B) interior complete with custom embroidered old
school Gas Monkey logos! The front seats and rear bench are in good
overall condition, considering the amount of use they have
received. The matching carpet is in overall original condition and
shows some wear. The headliner is in good order, while the
instrument panel, two-spoke steering wheel, inner door panels,
mirror glass and the shift lever are all in good order. There are
ancillary gauges - oil, engine temperature and voltage in the
passenger side of the dash and canted toward the driver. The sound
system is new but the amplifier is inoperable and there is a Cobra
CB radio, antennas and a JVC navigation system. The finishing touch
of the interior is Richard Rawling's and Dennis Collin's personal
signature under the drivers sun visor! The car's bodywork is
straight and solid, there's a full-size black storage rack mounted
atop the roof, complete with Hella lights, the bumpers fit decently
well to the body, the battery looks very good and the engine bay is
tidy. This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis,
Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 21,877 miles and
believed to be actual because Richard noted that he bought the car
from the original owner who was an elderly lady who only drove the
car sparingly and the Caprice had only 10k miles when he purchased
it. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage
exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!! GET YOU SOME OF THAT!!! PLEASE
