Vehicle Description
Looking for something a little different? Something that will draw
a crowd and have them scratching their heads and wondering in
amazement? Take a look at this 1950 custom Chevrolet 5 window pick
up. This project began with a 1950 chevy suburban that has been
fabricated into a uni-body 5 window pick up. The body of the truck
has been sectioned 4" along with the hood that has been filled and
sectioned also. The top half of a 3100 5 window pick up made up the
cab and was chopped 2" in the process. VW headlights have also been
fabricated into the front fenders along with built in turn signals.
The running boards and rear fenders are fiberglass. The body has a
perfect fit and finish to it and is arrow straight, the hundreds of
hours it took to perfect this body is hard to imagine and the
attention to detail and workmanship show throughout the truck. The
two tone colonial crme and black paint looks amazing with a show
quality finish along with all new chrome, stainless, glass and
weather stripping. As for the chassis the original suspension was
removed and replaced with C5 corvette suspension that had been
modified with adjustable coilovers and rack and pinion steering.
Now we have a much smoother ride with power steering and 4 wheel
power disc brakes. The chassis itself is a work of art with all new
suspension components and has been powder coated hammertone gray to
keep it looking great for years to come. When it came to choosing
the drive train for this build the obvious choice would have been a
GM 350 with an automatic transmission but this is no ordinary build
and deserves something a little different. So a 292 I6 became the
power plant for this truck backed by a T5 5 speed transmission with
hydraulic clutch. The 292 received an Offenhauser intake with an
Edelbrock 600cfm 4 barrel carb and headers. The interior has been
finished in black leather with gray and black hounds tooth inserts.
Bucket seats with 70 Chevelle console, tilt steering column, 1957
Chevy gauge cluster in dash with new Haneline gauges, and Vintage
air conditioning. The truck runs and drives incredible, has to be
one of the better driving vehicles we've ever had. It's tight with
no shakes or rattles and the engine and transmission perform smooth
and effortless. Take it to the cruise-ins and car shows and you'll
never see another one like it.....
